Simone Rocha

Simone Rocha can cut according to Style.com, and she certainly can! Since growing up in Dublin, Ireland, raised by her esteemed fashion designer father John Rocha, it was no surprise that Simone would make the fashion headlines with her younger approach to fashion and luxurious choice of fabrics. This girl is definitely one to watch. After just two years graduating from Central St. Martins, Rocha is already on the London Fashion Week schedule.

With J.W Anderson, Edun and now Simone, it seems the Irish might just take over the fashion world.

New York Spring 2013 Top 5 Shows

New York was great this year. Between collections of 1960’s glamour and innovative silhouettes and prints came covetable, wearable clothes. These 5 shows I have chosen as my favorite was a hard choice considering the extremely successful collections each designer delivered. Strong trends came through right from the start and the New York Fashion Week hype buzzed around the city better then ever before!

DVF Through Glass

Want to see behind the eyes of Fashion Week? Well now you can.

Google has asked designer Diane von Furstenberg, her team and models to wear a new camera they have brought out which is placed beside the eye to record exactly what someone can see. The Result? A fascinating video that even created butterflies in my stomach as one model made her way to open the show on front of 300 people! The work, dedication and glamour is finally visible to OUR eyes.

Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel

Words cannot describe the influence Diana Vreeland had towards the fashion world. Her vision, her drive, her enthusiasm, her passion created something new and interesting. Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel is a new documentary created by her granddaughter-in-law Lisa Immordino Vreeland. With interviews with designers Vreeland founded, like Manolo Blahnik and Oscar De La Renta and icons she created like Anjelica Huston and Lauren Hutton it is well worth a watch. Not only do you get an inside look into her glamorous lifestyle, but also a sense of what she was like as a person, colleague and friend. Her unique wit makes it a comical experience. She is dearly missed and we cannot thank her enough for what she did to the fashion world.

Altuzarra

Joseph Altuzarra has had no formal fashion training. No contacts, no money, no college degree; Just a guy with a dream. Somehow for Altuzarra it worked! After three major jobs with Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler and Givenchy it was finally time to set up his own company. Since then Altuzarra has become an overnight sensation with his Fall 2012 collection catching every editors eye, launched a range for J Crew inspired by Lana Del Rey and won the 2011 CFDA/Vogue annual fund. Not bad for a guy with just a dream! This Saturday, Altuzarra will show his Spring/Summer 2013 collection, expectations are high and everyone who is anyone will be there. The future looks bright for Joseph Altuzarra.

Sunday Times Style Magazine

I recently got the coveted opportunity to be in the ‘What Are You Wearing’ section of The Sunday Times Style magazine (15 July 2012 issue). It was an absolute pleasure to work with the team involved and I thank Style magazine for giving me the chance to express my own style!

EDUN

Things are looking up for EDUN. Not only does this brand keep on getting bigger and better, but it is now everywhere! Whether you open a magazine and see it’s advertising, walk into a store and see there covetable clothes or pass someone on the street in a look from the show. Now that they are in the loop with LVMH who own a 49% stake (and own powerhouses like Dior and Louis Vuitton) it seems EDUN is here to stay, for a long time. Founder Ali Hewson’s (yes, Bono’s wife) aim is to bring ‘positive change through its trading relationship with Africa and it’s positioning as a creative force in contemporary fashion.’

Here is a film of their A/W 12 ad campaign by Ryan McGinley

Vogue September 2012

It’s their 120th anniversary issue and there is no one better to grace the cover then Lady Gaga.

Vogue’s 916 page September issue was released today I must say I approve! Lady Gaga photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in a Marc Jacobs hot pink dress especially designed for the cover gets me so excited to see what else is inside.

Do you approve?

London 2012

London…..the word even gets me excited! The past four weeks I spent in London working for Harper’s Bazaar made me realise it is the place for me.  The vibe, the people, the atmosphere, the FASHION! The street is a runway in London, even the tube is like a fashion show. People just do not care about what people think or how they may be perceived. It’s all about how the clothes make YOU feel. That’s the way fashion should be. There is also the excitement of London’s up and coming designers (Saunders, Kane, Erdem, Katrantzou, etc) which is as big as the excitement for the Olympics. They are the future of fashion and there is no better place to start than London.
