Champagne at the ready it’s Oscar time! Like every year, it’s not about what movie will win or what actor will have the once in a lifetime chance (for some) and win an award. For many of us all we want to know is who and what the biggest celebs in town are wearing.

Here are my style predictions for this years Oscars:

London Fashion Week Fall 2012 – Top 5 Shows

As always London’s new talent are ruling the runways!

Simone Rocha impressed many with her reinvention of the ‘Rocha’ look (started by her designer dad John) even though it is her first ever show at London Fashion Week!!! Erdem‘s prim and proper collection had an added edge  this season with his tweed-like leather and lace cut into flower shapes. It is his immense attention to detail that keeps him on the fashion map. Sarah Burton’s military approach for McQ had the audience on the edge of their seats as the models walked through rustling leaves. The atmospheric show will definitely draw the international fashion crowd to London next season. Does Christopher Kane ever get it wrong? His innovative use of fabrics such as leather silk and velvet prove why the designer is at the top of his game. The beaded, chinese like print that ended the show will appear at the top of every fashionista’s shopping list. Mary Katrantzou always finds a new way to do print. Her ever-changing silhouette is what causes peoples excitement for her show. Her interesting, bold colour palette of yellow, red, green and blue reacted perfectly with her coveted prints.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2012 – Top 5 Shows

New York Fashion Week (NYFW) took an unexpected turn this time. Instead of the established designers taking over the spotlight, it was all about the up-and-coming (with the exception of Marc Jacobs and Alex Wang of course). From Rodarte’s Australian dream, Proenza Schouler’s collection of protection, Altuzarra’s traveling warrior, Alexander Wang’s monochrome magic and Marc Jacobs’ fantasy of reality, this week certainly delivered a wide range of variety but with an overall tough edge. Here are some of my favorite looks from my pick of NYFW’s top 5 designers:

Marc Jacobs

Alexander Wang

Proenza Schouler

From Daphne Guinness to Margherita Missoni they never disappoint, but like designers there ia always a new generation. Here are some of fashions socialites of the moment….

Emmanuelle Alt (Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Paris) and her Vogue gang have celebrated the revamp of Paris Vogue’s new website in a very unexpected way. The fashion forward team have made a video together in which Alt stars as George Michael in Wham, re-creating the pop sensations music video.

And the winner is……

The result is finally out! For the past few weeks, designers such as Richard Nicoll, Jonathan Sunders, Mary Katrantzou and Meadham Kirchoff to name a few have been competing to win the prize of a lifetime, the BFC Vogue/Fashion Fund Award. An award that supplies designer mentoring from industry professionals and £200,000 to grow their business.

And the winner is…..Jonathan Saunders!!!!

Jonathan Saunders Fall 2011

I attended the Jonathan Saunders show for Fall/Winter 2011 at London Fashion Week. His use of colour, his silhouettes and his unique patterns are what made Saunders sales explode in the past two seasons. What will he do next?
