Tom Ford Fall/Winter 2012

Tom Ford suprised me this month. For months and months we all wait in anticipation for his womenswear collection to be released. This time, 5 weeks after his Fall/Winter 2012 show, it was FINALLY released! But only in a sneak peek video of course and thats good enough for me. With his usual strong, sexy silhouettes, Ford seemed to have gone back in time to take inspiration from his former muse and former Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Paris Carine Roitfeld. Yet again it was the perfect combination.

Take a look at the vibrant coloured furs and Carine Roitfeld-esque collection here:

The Next BIG Step

Former Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld is starting her own magazine. The glamorous 57 year old left Vogue Paris in January 2011 leaving an amazingly  reinvented magazine behind her after ten years at the helm. Carine, who just published her own book, will certainly not disappoint. Her high fashion edge and Vogue Paris attitude mix well together. If she’s good enough for Vogue, she’s good enough for her own magazine. No title has been released yet, but the first issue of the quarterly magazine will appear on on shelves for the September issue next year. Don’t worry, this time it’s in English. Let’s Start the countdown.

Chanel Resort 2012

Monday (May 9th) marked the Chanel Resort (pre-spring) 2012 fashion show in Antibes on the French Riviera. Starting with Abbey Lee Kershaw in pastel yellow, the collection reminded me of what Chanel is all about……..classic.

Abbey Lee Kershaw

Karl Lagerfeld reinvented the classic side of Chanel making it for a cool modern girl, giving a new twist to the brand. The first hint came when an illustration of Coco Chanel herself was on the invitation

The Invitation

For this show all the old Chanel models like Kristen McMenamy and Stella Tennant came back to strut down a rather long runway, fitting in with the classic idea for the show. Not only did this collection dip into the history of Chanel models, it also dipped into the future. When it came to the end of the show the big question was who will close? Saskia De Brauw was put to the job. Not only has she Modeled for Chanel, but she was also on the front Cover of Carine Roitfeld’s last Vogue Paris issue. Remember her name!
