Model Take Over

It may seem like an obvious statement that models appear more perfected then ‘real people’ but I must say at Cannes this year, i’m impressed. From Anja Rubik to Natasha Poly, Heidi Klum to Doutzen Kroes; all of them have managed to snatch the best dresses from designers and taken over the red carpet. Those so called ‘movie stars’ better up their game!

MB for KG

Get ready ladies, a dream collaboration is about to happen……….wait for it……… Manolo Blahnik for Kurt Geiger!!!!

This July, a 300 sq ft boutique will be opening in Harrods holding the Autumn/Winter 2012 Manolo Blahnik for Kurt Geiger collection. The range will also be available in Liberty, which already holds accessories such as bags and stationary from Blahnik. Even though the wait for July may seem unbearable, Blahnik’s London boutique on Old Church Street will still hold his covetable main line collection. ”I am very excited that my shoes will reach an even broader audience through Kurt Geiger in Liberty and Harrods” Blahnik told WWD. All I can say is WE ARE TOO!

Prophet T-Shirts

One word…..Prophet. Yes, thats the name of up-and-coming photographer Daniel Fitzgerald’s t-shirt label. Only recently launched but oh so exciting. With only two styles available it not only gives a feeling of exclusivity, but make me so excited for the next bunch of styles he has in the works (set to launch this summer with a wide range of prints and colors). To get your own pair of Prophet t-shirts for only €20 visit The Blind Tiger at 51 South William Street, Dublin City, Ireland or visit the online store here .

Here is a photo shoot I styled for Fitzgerald’s new Prophet collection:

The Day We Have All Been Waiting For!

After more than a year of waiting, Dior has finally announced their replacement for the esteemed John Galliano. Raf Simons, who left Jil Sander as Creative Director in February, has landed the job that is every designers dream. His first official Dior show will be during couture week in July.

Here are some highlights of Raf Simon’s designs for Jil Sander:

Fashion’s Dangerous Game

As high end designers continuously put in hours of effort, love and care into their products, the high street stores are producing knockoffs in a matter of weeks. So is it better that we spend a large amount of money on a valuble item, or is it ok to buy the cheaper version from the high street? In my opinion buying a high street product may eventually cost the same amount as a high end product. For example after you fork out a whopping €2,ooo on a Prada bag, you most certainly may not be going shopping the following week. When buying a high street product, it is likely you may be in the same store buying something new the next week, and end up throwing out those purchases after a year or two while the good quality of your Prada bag may still be as good as new! of course it is easy to spend money in a high street store without the bank balance guilt, but after you have ran out of the store with a few new jackets and €300 less in your wallet, you have practically bought a few high street pieces with a high end price tag. So what is the difference?

Lets take a look at some of the high street designer knockoffs this season:

Fashion’s New Shape

For a while now designers have been focusing on two new shapes: wide, oversized coats and full peplum skirts. Of course these shapes are more flattering than they sound. The wide, oversized coats is working magic for your legs as it sits well away from the body in a structured manner. The full peplum skirts are pulling concentration to the waist making it appear much smaller as the shape widens from the smallest part of the torso. Lets take a look at some of the designers joining in the fun:
