Olivier Rousteing is said to be Christophe Decarnin’s successor at Balmain. The Unkown designer has worked for Roberto Cavalli and left for Balmain after 6 years. Rousteing has been working under Christophe for the last 3 years, while Balmain was at the top of it’s league. Will Olivier continue the Rock n Roll chic we love so much, also known as Balmainia? Or will there be a new leaf dropped upon the Parisian house for us all to love…….or hate. Only time will tell.

Another designer, another brand. Just a few weeks after the John Galliano controversy,  creative director Christophe Decarnin has left the house of Balmain. After the designer was absent from his Fall/Winter 2011 fashion show in Paris due to medical conditions, it was evident there was change going to happen. For five years, Decarnin who joined Balmain in 2005, re-created the brand to Rock n Roll Chic, making it super popular and super pricey.

Balmain Fall/Winter 2009

This season has really proven how much stress these creative legends are under. Last year Alexander McQueen comitted suicide, John Galliano broke out with an out of character racist rant and now Christophe Decarnin is leaving the job he was born to do.

What is going on behind the scenes and who will be next?
