Prada – This season Miuccia Prada showed a variety of what I like to call ‘trailer trash chic’ looks. The esteemed designer excited the crowd with hints of leather, satin and pleating. Of course we must not forget the flames rising from the bottom of dresses and firing out the back of shoes. Can she do anything wrong?
Jil Sander – Very simple, very different, very white. The Jil Sander collection has impressed me yet again. From the time the first model walked out to the last, I thought of one thing. 1940’s nurses with a touch of elegance. The straight, shear white dresses were paired with nurse shaped hats and a net veil covering their face. I like to think that every designer has a ‘moment’, and this is Jil Sander’s.
Dolce and Gabbana – As I watched the models walk down the runway, I became more and more hungry. Fruit and vegetables seemed to be quite a big theme. Chili’s, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, the list goes on. While sticking to their womanly shapes, Dolce and Gabbana showed a collection of fabulous Fifties females. Each look better than the next. Not surprising for a design duo who seem to know it all.
Versace – This is a big year for Versace. Not only did they show an astounding collection, they have landed one of the biggest collaborations in history…..Versace for H&M. The almost fully white collection was true Versace minus the print. Sexy silhouettes and sky scraper stilettos where present on the runway. Well done Donatella, well done indeed.
Gucci – Frida Giannini (Creative Director) showed an art deco inspired collection leaning towards the 1920’s. There was a rock chick attitude to the models with a glamorous touch. Quite a strong combination. The embroidered, embellished and beaded collection has already been a huge hit amongst the editors. My favorite part? Most definitely the fringe. Nothing better thean some 1920’s fringe!
