Fashion’s Dangerous Game

As high end designers continuously put in hours of effort, love and care into their products, the high street stores are producing knockoffs in a matter of weeks. So is it better that we spend a large amount of money on a valuble item, or is it ok to buy the cheaper version from the high street? In my opinion buying a high street product may eventually cost the same amount as a high end product. For example after you fork out a whopping €2,ooo on a Prada bag, you most certainly may not be going shopping the following week. When buying a high street product, it is likely you may be in the same store buying something new the next week, and end up throwing out those purchases after a year or two while the good quality of your Prada bag may still be as good as new! of course it is easy to spend money in a high street store without the bank balance guilt, but after you have ran out of the store with a few new jackets and €300 less in your wallet, you have practically bought a few high street pieces with a high end price tag. So what is the difference?

Lets take a look at some of the high street designer knockoffs this season:

The Way To Wear Your Bag Next Season

For next season designers have decided to concentrate on the bag. When Miuccia Prada showed her fascinating (as usual) collection in Milan, she had her models pout down the runway holding their bags up to their chest, as if it was a safety guard holding all their possesions. Isn’t that what a woman’s bag is anyway? This trend has spread through the streets and celebrity world already as I saw Alexa Chung carrying out the same thing at the Cannes Film Festival.

Louis Vuitton, Celine and Miu Miu had different visions for how a bag should be held. According to their shows, handles will not be needed next season. Of course a bag has to have a handle for the option, but why do we have to use it?

Model Material

Lindsey Wixson is one of this seasons ‘breakout models’. Known for her defined ‘bee sting’ pout and gapped front teeth, she has managed to land major campaigns such as Alexander McQueen and Miu Miu. She began modeling in 2009 after leaving Wichita, Kansas were she was born and bred. At the age of 15, esteemed photographer Steven Meisel hand picked her for a shoot with Italian Vogue, opening many more doors for her to lead the way. For fall she walked 44 runway shows in New York, Milan and Paris and had her first major magazine cover for i-D. She is currently with Marilyn model agency, and one more thing….she is only 16!

Could shopping be anymore simple?
